Who Needs a Factory License?

A **Factory License** is required under the Factories Act, 1948, for premises where a **manufacturing process** is carried out and where a minimum number of workers are employed:

  • **10 or more workers** are employed with the aid of power.
  • **20 or more workers** are employed without the aid of power.

This license ensures compliance with health, safety, welfare, and working hour regulations for factory workers. It is issued by the **Directorate of Factories** of the respective State Government.
